Hello, New Backyard

I think it’s safe to say we’re finally settled into the new house. The backyard is bustling with plant life, festive lights and dangling hammocks.

At night, the patio transforms.

Succulents are one of my all-time favorite plants. You can tear off a little piece and plant these babies anywhere. Once, a Home Depot employee let me take home a piece of succulent that had fallen off a plant.

I bought a tomato plant at HEB for $1. It’s thriving! My mom brought three more tomato plants along with pepper, zinnias, guava, green onions, cilantro, mint, lettuce and kariapala.

Have you heard of the Topsy Turvy tomato planter? This is day 1 of my experiment with the upside down device.

Green onions and lettuce ready for consumption.

Had our first barbecue the other day. Special thanks to La Michoacana!

A few more photos from my Flickr stream.
